This is an extension for the Virtuemart e-commerce Joomla component. The Special Product Gallery is ideal for e-commerce stores selling products with a strong visual component, such as artwork. It creates an image gallery using the images associated with the products in the Virtuemart catalogue. The gallery features a button link (with customizable text) to the Virtuemart product page.

The administrator can choose in the component parameters whether or not to show the product price in the product caption.

There is a choice of Flash image gallery layout, or an HTML/javascript based layout, including an image lightbox and scroller.

The extension can function as a module, a plugin or as a component. The module version adds the Flash image gallery to a module position, while the plugin version allows you to embed the HTML gallery directly into a Joomla content article. The component version includes a choice of Flash and HTML layouts. All three extension types are included in the downloadable package.

The products featured can be: products on special display, random products, top products, and recent products.

The appearance of the Flash gallery can be customized, with either a horizontal or a vertical layout for the thumbnails, plus the background colour and style can be chosen, with a choice of either solid or a gradient background. There are also a variety of image transitions available, including: fade, rotate, photo flash, zoom, squeeze, random and none.

This component works with PHP4 or 5, but it does require the GD graphics module for PHP.
