This is a comprehensive guide to writing your own Joomla! components, modules and plugins. It is aimed at PHP developers who already have some experience of Joomla programming and who want to learn how to do it properly.

This book is well worth having if that describes you. Yes there is a lot of information on the Joomla site, but I find the online documentation poorly organized: it can be hard to locate the bit of information that you want, and when you try to refer back to it a couple of months later you find that the URL has been removed!

This book lays out the principles of Joomla development logically and clearly. It has to be said that it is not light reading, but it is a very useful reference work if you are a serious Joomla developer.
