Hello,
some time ago I bought the paid downloads extensions. I first installed it on a local site and now transferred the whole intallation to my live site. I encounter several problems with the extension and hope, that you can help me there:
1. After the migration 'paid downloads' obviously couldn't find the downloadble files anymore. O.k., I did the media synchronisation again and the files were recognized. But all old files are listed as well in the drop down list for file selection which is pretty confusing. I deleted the whole folder and created a new one in a directory under the safe path, but the old ones are still listed.... Using a sub-folder, the names of the downloadable files seem to receive a suffix with the folder name - is that correct?
2. The download works fine for the first time. I can save the file and it looks o.k. But if I try to download that file again (I give my customers usually 10 downloads for some period of time) I get an error message: order status %s.
Download not available until payment is confirmed (although the order is set to confirmed)...
Can you please give some advise on what's going wrong here?

Best regards

Petra

The downloads may need to be in the main folder of the safe path. These all seem to be problems with the Virtuemart media synchronization. The plugin finds the available files by checking the virtuemart media database table, it will list any files listed in the table as being for sale. I think that when you synchronize the Virtuemart media files it only checks the main folder of your safe path. If you don't want that then you could try marking the files as for sale yourself, but this sound quite tedious and may not work very well.

The other problem is to do with the file being marked as shipped once the download has taken place. You should make sure that the order statuses that allow downloads include 'shipped' - you set this in the plugin parameters, using the custom field manager.

Thanks for you reply! The information about the order status was very important and indeed was the problem in my case. It now seems to work all properly (even in a sub-folder). The only annoying thing that remains is the listing of files that no longer exist. But as you said, this is probably a problem of the VM database and I might clean that up manually.

Thanks for your help and advise!
Petra

P.S.: The forum search on your site doesn't work properly. It always redirects to the global search, which makes it difficult to find a topic in the forum...

Yes, I think that there is no alternative to cleaning up the non-existent files manually.

Thanks for reporting the problem with the forum search..
