<p>I have installed your Featured Items Pro on my Joomla site in two places, one as a vertical list which works fine, and on the home page as a horizontal tab pane, which doesn't work properly when viewed in Internet Explorer (I don't know which version as I saw it on someone else PC - and I work with Mac). It works fine in Safari and Firefox. Is there something I can do to fix it? Do you know of this issue? The site it is installed on is http://66.186.9.165. I appreciate your help.</p>

<p>That is the main reason for the 'open player in new window' link - so that the user can open up the player in a popup window, and so keep it playing while they navigate the site.<br /><br />Unfortunately it is not possible to do what you ask, that is to have the player reload on each page and 'remember' where it had reached. </p> |

<p>Sorry, I don't think that there is anything I can do to the module to solve it. The module uses the standard JRoute method to generate the links in the extracts, if there are problems with this then they are due to deficiencies in the router provided by Joomsuite resources.<br /><br />You might try a different approach and edit the URLS in your menu items if this really bothers you.</p> |

<p>Actually this has been done now. You can download the new version - if you need a new download link let me know.<br /><br />When you have installed the new version you will need to clear your web browser cache in order to ensure that the new version of the player is used. <br /><br />You can use the new options to choose whether to pre-load the files. The default is now to not do this, so this should solve the page loading problem.</p> |

<p>Yes this will be easy to do - it is a feature that I have been planning to introduce so I will add it.<br /><br />I can add an option that prevents automatic download. At the moment this happens so that when a user presses play the playback can start immediately, but clearly when you have very large files this is going to cause problems. It should be easy to optionally disable this behaviour, which I think will solve your performance problem. <br /><br />It may take a couple of days to do this - I will let you know when it is ready.</p> |

<p>and I just noticed that you can't navigate to the next track until the current track is fully loaded. So, if the files are big, you'll have to wait awhile until you can navigate fwd.</p>

I have business requirements too, so just assuming I can shrink the size is not really that fair or logical. Now that being said, I could have investigated with you on what sizes have been tested.</p>
<p>I chose yours because you have more control with the path to the files, folder or the mp3's themselves.</p>
<p>I would like to try and see if we can do the method of not trying to start the player until the user presses play.</p>

<p>I have checked further with the largest mp3 file that I have currently which is 17Mb.<br /><br />It plays fine. The button which changes tracks does so by moving the playhead to the end of the track - it does not become active until the file has finished dowloading, which takes time in your case because the files are so large. <br /><br />Your problems are caused by the very large size of your files. The normal size for an mp3 download is about 1 tenth the size, and I really think that it makes sense to reduce this size.<br /><br />If you insist on having such large files it might be possible to improve the page loading by modifiying the player so that it does not start downloading the file until the users presses the play button, I can do this for you if you wish.<br /><br />Perhaps your FREE player did happen to handle this particular issue better, but I assume that it was not as good in other ways, or you would not have bought mine.<br /><br />Mine is a very good player, it has been used by hundreds of people without these kinds of problems, which are of your own making as far as I can see. So please do not insult me and my work. If you wish to co-operate to find a solution to your difficulties then do so by actually sending me the URL where I can see for myself what it going on.</p> |

<p>Can you send me an URL where I can see the problem please?<br /><br />You should be able to move forward on the tracks, this function definitely works, it seems to me that it simply may be taking some time to download a new track.<br /><br />I see no reason why the player should not be able to handle files of that size. It has certainly been tested on files of around 20Mb and can play them without problem. If you are having problems it is possible that these are due to your web browser.</p> |

<p>maybe it can't move forward because the files are too big for it to handle. Is that mentioned in your notes. Because I would not have purchased it, if that was the case.</p>

You could try editing the parameters using the plugin manager. <br /><br />If this does not solve the problem then let me know the URL of the site, I will see what is happening. <p>I suggest increasing the size of the player a bit, using the player height parameter. Then the text will be bigger too.<br /><br />I have never encountered a problem with changing tracks nor has this problem been reported before, I retested myself and this function works fine. You may need to make sure that your mp3 list parameter is blank, otherwise the player will simply play the track that is listed.<br /><br />It will take a time for the page to load, that is because the mp3 file needs to load as well. You can try smaller mp3 files if this is a problem.</p> |

There is a new version of the module which includes the solution, you just need to download it again.<br /><br />To use the new version, just overwrite the file <br /><br />modules/mod_featureditems_pro/helper.php <br /><br />with the helper.php included in the package - there is no need to reinstall the module. You should find that it works now.</p> |

<p>Hello,<br /><br />this seems to be a bug with the native Joomla support for SEF URLS.<br /><br />One way to solve it is to use the component Sh404SEF for your URLS - it is much better than the native Joomla version, it is a security component as well, and allows you to do things like set metatags for Joomla pages. I would recommend it, it does work well with the featured items module when using Joomsuite resources.<br /><br />In the meantime I will look into this further in case there is anything that can be done within the module to prevent this occuring.</p> |

The maximum size for an image is about 550px at the moment - I may add the option to resize images in future releases. There is a maximum number of images of 10 - this is for a technical reason that there is a limit to the size of the parameter string that the Flash puzzle can accept. The images are selected randomly from the folder. |

<p>The problem seems to be with running the sc ript that resizes the iimages.</p><p>Try going to <a href="http://www.denverwilcox.com/components/com_specialproduct/assets/resize.php">http://www.denverwilcox.com/components/com_specialproduct/assets/resize.php</a></p><p>and note the error messages there. You may need to check the permissions for the s cript.</p><p>Also if your php installation does not include the gd graphics module then I think that this might cause the problem. You can check on this through your Joomla site by looking at the system information php configuration - that should list GD among the PHP modules. This is one of the first things that you need to check.</p><p>Also I have encountered a similar problem when the site uses ion-cube for an extension. If this is a problem I think there may be a work-around.</p><p>If you want to email me a copy of your .htaccess file I can tell you if there is anything that is likely to interfere.</p> |

Actually I think that you may just need to make sure that you have some relevant products. The component can show products on special, random products, the most recent and most popular. The default is 'special' - but if you don't have any products on special then none will display - try changing the module type parameter to random. |

<p>Hello,</p><p> can you let me know the URL of your site, then I may be able to look and see what is the problem?</p><p> One thing that might cause these problems is if the database prefix for your virtuemart installation is different from the standard 'vm_' . If this is the case let me know and I will send you a new version that will allow for this.</p><p>Also you need to have the component installed for the module to work.</p> |

Special Product Gallery Not Working
<p>Have installed the component and module on Joomla 1.5.10. Setup a menu item to display the gallery. Have tried no category id, one category id, and multiple category ids and various other combinations but still cannot get it to work.</p><p>I did notice that I was getting an error that the variable cagegory_id is not defined. Found that and changed to category_id and still did not work. Also was getting a mesage that multi_cats was not defined. When the flash displays, I get an undefined error. The flash displays but is just empty with the button. I am also getting the Premature Header error on the resize.php file in the assets folder.</p><p>Any help would be appreciated. </p> |

<p>This problem was solved in private correspondance. </p><p>When making changes to the xml file you need to clear the browser cache in order for the changes to show. </p> |

<p>Hi, the answer to your first question is that you need to edit the file tmpl/default.php and change the order of the s cripts embedplayer.js and embedpopup.js .</p><p>The other idea I had not thought of before, it is an interesting idea, but it would have to wait until I have time to do a new update for the module. </p><p> </p> |

<p>Hello Mate.</p><p>I just realized it only shows this box in Firefox. In IE it is fine. I figured out the problem. Add wmode="transparent" to line 11 of playertags.js and it works in Firefox.</p><p>Cheers</p>PS I guess I am just impatient |

<p>I just bought this and it is great. Love it! One problem for me. I need to be able to change the background color so it matches my site. I love the look of the default skin, but need the white box to be a different color or transparent. I need it to be this color: #d1c39c. I looked at your files and it appears this parameter in built in to the swf. Can you either a add background parameter to the mod, make it transparent by default, or make me a new swf with the above color as the background. <p>I am not sure if (1) is a question or a complain or what. Certainly you can use Dreamweaver ito edit an xml file if you want to. You should be able to do it in notepad though. When you are saving you need to choose the type 'all files'. If your windows is not set up to show file extensions you may need to enclose the file name including the extension in quotation marks so that the extension is saved properly.</p><p>The template needs to be set up on a web server with PHP installed. If you give me a bit of information about what the changes are that you are trying to make, and what your setup is, for example which version of PHP you are using then I might be able to help. Just telling me that is doesn't work isn't very informative.</p> |

<p>My question is in two parts. Part 1. I bought the php black template and I am trying to customise it. I have opened the sitedata.xml file in dreamweaver and tried to change it. I can't edit in notepad as I don't have an option to save as an xml file only txt. Part 2. The browser does not should the changes. I know your guide notes say it must be run on a web server. I am using wampserver2 so I would have thought it would run on that OK.</p><p>Can you advise please?</p><p>Beeky </p> |
